Description
For his Duo Jet, Kyle says he was closely inspired by the world of motors and in particular by the 1959 Triumph Bonneville, following the thread that has always intertwined Gretsch guitars with cars and motorcycles and always wondering: “what would Jimmie Webster do? “.
The result of his research is a single-cut in Sonic Blue finish on which an orange palette stands out recalled in the color by the thick binding that embraces the body. In reference to the tradition of the Roundup, a belt in black and white leather enhances the curves with a new taste, but exactly in line with the Gretsch icon.
The Bonneville is a tribute to the history of the house and offers retro playability and style, with chunky mother-of-pearl blocks serving as dot markers on an ebony base and a pair of Jones Super’Tron TV pickups to add the flexibility of a classic pickup with an increased bandwidth and particular attention to the presence of low frequencies through a new design with two blades instead of the canonical cylindrical magnets.
Below, a Space Control bridge guarantees an unmistakable tone in combination with the Bigsby vibrato.
Kyle wanted to insert as much metal as possible on the instrument, choosing a pickguard and an aluminum electronics plate, borrowing an arm rest from the Penguin and applying a base for the two switches on the upper shoulder derived directly from the mounted logo plate. from the vintage Triumphs on the tank.
In the video, Builder Gretsch recounts the birth and inspiration behind the G6128 ’59 Bonneville Duo Jet with Bigsby.
